The federation has exalted milestones that it intends to achieve over the near course of time.
Few of the intended milestones are listed below :
With full-fledged support from Govt of Karnataka, the Organic movement started at the district level from 2004 onwards. The movement then permeated to taluka level during the year 2006-07 and the movement finally encompassed hobli level during the year 2010-11
During this time, farmers became aware or, were made aware, of organic farming. The farmers started conversion of their land by practicing organic farming principles while farming. But, since there was no market to dedicatedly showcase and trade Organic produce, farmers slowly began losing interest in organic farming.
To rectify this situation, Karnataka government decided to form an Organic federation that aggregates Organic farmers and farming groups across Karnataka.
This federation has, since it’s conception, proceeded to create area-wise organic farmer sub-federations.
Bangalore organic federation began it’s operations with full support of/for 31 organic farmer groups (Registered under 1960 societies act). The federation takes stocked organic produce from all these 31 farmer groups and that helps create heightened organic farming interest amongst these groups.
Through these programmes, the Federation intends to achieve the following.
